SUNART CENTRE NEWS

Our Tuesday & Thursday youth clubs have started again and we are very much in need of support from adult volunteers if these are to continue. The current costs of staffing and buses are nowhere near covered by the current £1 entry fee we charge those attending, and recent personnel changes have left us in a precarious position. Without enough adults to help supervise activities, particularly on Thursday nights for junior youth club, we may not be able to continue providing the full service we have managed to maintain for the past 13 years. We may be looking to set up a parent rota in the hope that a few parents may be able to attend once a school term to ensure the continuation of activities. If you are at all interested in helping our children and young people obtain maximum benefit from the facilities and opportunities on offer please get in touch.

We were sorry to see Dot Lynas, High Life Highland Active Schools Co-Ordinator, leave the area after many years of great service to the community, and wish her well in her new life in the south of England. If anyone would like Dot’s new contact details she has asked me to pass them on. The High Life Highland team and local schools look forward to welcoming Dot’s replacement Fiona Beattie in early September.

Along with Stewart Malcolm (Youth Development Officer), Helen Tait (Ardnamurchan Library) and West Highland College (Dale Meegan & Helen Tait) we are building on our programme of activities in the Sunart Centre for the coming year, and we always welcome fresh proposals and new ideas. If you can think of anything new you’d like to see happening in our area, or if you’d like to be involved occasionally or regularly in the planning or delivery of any activities, please get in touch.
